FLINT GLASS ARIBBED PALM@ NAPPIE on FOOT

Attributed to Sandwich Glass Co.
Known today by collectors as the ARibbed Palm@ pattern, it was originally patented as the Asprig pattern@ on April 21, 1863. A popular pattern which was manufactured and collected in many forms of tableware pieces.
The transparent glass nappie on foot is beautiful. Its small row of rounded scallops on the rim terminate downwards to the four symmetrically proportioned leaves branching out on both sides of a stem. Each leaf is surrounded by tapering ribs. The nappie and foot were pressed separately, a single wafer joins the units together.
