This Fine Quality Tea Table clearly shows the refinements of Boston Craftsmanship. The cabinet shops excellent choice of mahogany adds to its distinct composition. The circular rounded edge tip-top is formed of a single piece of mahogany with a flame pattern. It revolves on a pillared bird-cage platform. In Massachusetts any revolving-top table with a pillared bird cage platform is a rare event. (Two with bird-cages are at Winterthur, Downs, plate 385 and in private hands ANTIQUES, Jan 1956 page 14). The well developed shaft has carved swirled gadrooning. The tripod base is formed of three arched cabriole legs with carved knees that splay out to a distinctive claw-and-ball feet.

The Tea Table's cabriole legs ending with claw-and-ball feet having birdlike talons; and the tables knees carved with a decorated panel which has acanthus sprags above and below is directly related to a Tea Table at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and illustrated in AMERICAN FURNITURE in the MUSEUM of FINE ARTS, Boston, plate 86.
